MBHS students among McDonald’s scholarship winners Two students from Mission Bay High School were among 10 young scholars honored during a luncheon May 17 as recipients of the 2011 Ronald McDonald House Charities®/Hispanic American Commitment to Education Resources (HACER)® Scholarship. Erika Reyes and Israel Romero joined the other honorees at the Ronald McDonald House in accepting the scholarships. According to McDonald’s officials, all 10 students selected have become the first person in their families to attend college. The scholarship recipients, who were all local high school seniors of Hispanic descent, were awarded $2,000 each toward their college education. The students, families, school counselors and members of the McDonald’s Operators’ Association of San Diego and Southern California were also in attendance as each recipient was presented with a certificate recognizing his or her scholarship award.
