A man trying to cross a busy Pacific Beach street midblock was struck and severely injured by an SUV, police said today. The 50-year-old pedestrian walked directly into the path of an eastbound Toyota 4Runner on Garnet Avenue near Bond Street around 10:15 p.m. March 14, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said. The crash left the victim with life-threatening head injuries. The 21-year-old male driver of the SUV was not injured, Delimitros said.
