PACIFIC BEACH — Open Door Books, 4761 Cass St. will host an author signing and discussion event on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Authors Sheri Lawson and Linda Patterson will speak about “religious influences that teach hate instead of love toward gay women and men and the affects these influences have on their lives,” according to the bookstore’s press release. Lawson wrote “The Spell of Religion and the Battle Over Gay Marriage.” Patterson is the author of “Hate Thy Neighbor.” Rosemary Brown, Ph.D., will moderate the talk.
