The La Jolla Community Parking District Advisory Board is seeking people to fill two recently vacated seats, after two Promote La Jolla members recently recused themselves, including chair Peter Wagener who resigned at last month’s parking meeting.
One available seat is for an at-large business owner and the other is for an at-large resident. According to Tiffany Sherer, both positions require the candidate to own or reside in the La Jolla Community Parking Board District, the area defined in the La Jolla Community Plan.
Although the at-large business owner must own a business or commercial property in that area, the at-large resident must only reside in the area.
Two of the nine parking board seats are not represented by any community group and are considered at large.
Of the other seven seats, three are appointed by Promote La Jolla, and the remaining four are divided between the La Jolla Community Planning Association, the La Jolla Shores Association, the Bird Rock Community Council and La Jolla Town Council.
To be an at-large board member, an annual position, a resident or business owner must submit an application to the La Jolla Community Parking District Advisory Board. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008.
According to Sherer, all qualified candidates will post information about themselves publicly for 30 days. During that time, the Advisory Board will accept public comment on the qualifications of the candidates before electing the members at the Feb. 20 meeting.
The candidates’ terms are for one calendar year and will expire in December 2008.
To obtain an application, e-mail Sherer at [email protected].
Completed applications may be submitted to LJCPDAB Attn: At-Large Applications, c/o Promote La Jolla, 1150 Silverado St., La Jolla, CA 92037.
The candidates’ information will be displayed publicly at 7966 Herschel Ave.
