A paraglider is recovering at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla after taking off and crashing into the cliffs above Black’s Beach.
The incident was reported near Torrey Pines Scenic Drive shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday.
Witnesses describe what they saw moments before it happened.
“Oh,” one man said, “we were just like that’s not good. I mean, it was a struggle and he should have never jumped but he was struggling all the way trying to catch the winds and just collapsed.”
The paraglider was taken to Scripps Memorial. The extent of his injuries has not been released but according to medics on the scene, he was complaining of severe hip and back pain.
