This November, a new public art installation will “Illuminate the Night” at Arts District Liberty Station as part of its growing Installations at the Station program. Over a dozen specially commissioned art installation dot the 100-acre campus and help transform the uniform, monochromatic, rigid former military buildings into a culturally vibrant arts and culture destination. The NTC Foundation is seeking artist proposals for a new addition this winter. For the past five years, the light installations have been tied to the holidays and have helped enhance the “Salute the Season” festivities anchored by Rady Children’s Ice Rink.
“The Art in Public Places Committee’s decision to switch from a seasonal lighting art project to one that focuses on the depths of winter nights is an exciting prospect for both artists and viewers,” said NTC Foundation Art in Public Places Committee chair Vicki Reed.
