NTC Foundation names new general manager

The NTC Foundation recently introduced Lisa Johnson as the new general manager overseeing the NTC Arts and Culture District – San Diego’s fast growing arts and culture district in Liberty Station in Point Loma.
A San Diego native, Johnson brings a blend of non-profit management experience as well as real estate experience, facility management knowledge, project management and business experience. In addition, she has a strong background in philanthropy both from professional and volunteer perspective, having served as a fundraiser for many community based organizations.
Initial goals will be to help ensure financial sustainability of the foundation and position it for a positive growth trajectory. She will also work to successfully shepherd new projects to completion and complete Phase III renovations and leasing at the 28-acre campus at the former Naval Training Center.
Most recently, Johnson was executive manager of the South Bay Family YMCA. “We are pleased to welcome Lisa to our team,” said Alan Ziter, executive director. “Her vast experience combined with her passion for the project will serve us well as we move to the next phase of development.”
This is a kind of homecoming for Johnson, who worked with The Corky McMillin Cos. for five years when they moved their offices to Liberty Station from their headquarters in National City. “I had the opportunity to experience and contribute to the development of the project from the master developer perspective. Having grown up in San Diego and understanding the impact of the U.S. Navy and its history in our community, I have a passion for preserving that history,” she said. “I also have a deep understanding of and passion for philanthropy and the power it has to transform communities in a positive way,” she added.
Johnson and her husband, a retired San Diego police officer, have two grown daughters and live in Bonita. She has been extremely active in civic activities and was past president of the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Chula Vista. She is also past chair of the grants committee of the Chula Vista Charitable Foundation.
Johnson replaces Sandy Perlatti, who retired after 38 years with The Corky McMillin Cos. and two years as general manager of the NTC Foundation.
