Suspect arrested for attempted murder Police arrested 23-year old Agahan Alemdar on Aug. 4 for attempted murder after he reportedly stabbed a black male in the neck the previous day. According to police, Alemdar and the victim got into an argument in a courtyard at 1038 Hornblend St. around 4 p.m. when Alemdar stabbed the victim in the neck, resulting in a one-inch wound. Alemdar left in a green BMW and was caught the following day. San Diego Police Det. Gary Hassen said the victim required emergency surgery and is expected to fully recover. Chase Bank robber still on the loose A male described as black or Hispanic is still at large after robbing the Chase Bank at 4650 Mission Bay Drive in Pacific Beach at approximately 3:57 p.m. on July 31. According to police reports, the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to the teller stating that he had a bomb and demanded cash. The suspect took the cash and fled from the bank, dropping money as he fled through the bank’s parking lot. Responding police units checked the area for the suspect but could not find him. SDPD Robbery units are investigating. Robber knocks off GNC Store in PB A white male between 20 and 25 years old is sill at large after reportedly robbing the GNC Store at 1824 Garnet Ave. on Aug. 4 at approximately 5:29 p.m., according to police reports. The suspect displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun to the store clerk and was given money, and left through the parking lot on a chrome BMX bicycle. He was described as five-feet, six-inches tall, 170 pounds with shoulder-length, black matted hair. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt and black shorts at the time of the incident. SDPD Robbery unit is investigating. Pair of serious injury accidents in PB On Aug. 1, white female driver in her 30s failed to stop at a red light while driving westbound on Garnet Avenue around 2:30 a.m. and collided with a white female in her 20s who was driving southbound on Mission Bay Drive, according to police reports. The first driver was not injured, while the second driver was taken to the hospital with a hairline fracture to her pelvis. SDPD spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz said one of the drivers involved was impaired by alcohol and arrested. SDPD Traffic Division is investigating. A week earlier, a 23-year-old male bicyclist riding south on 5200 Soledad Rd. was hit by a car. According to police reports, on July 25 just before noon, the bicyclist braked and fell to the ground to avoid a car turning left from the 5200-block of Soledad Road onto Alta Vista Street. The car did not stop and hit the bicyclist, resulting in severe head injuries that are potentially life threatening. SDPD Traffic Division is investigating. Man dies after jumping off Bahia Belle The body of 28-year-old La Jolla Sean Rae was found in Mission Bay on Aug. 2. Rae reportedly jumped off of the Bahia Belle sternwheeler early on the morning of Aug. 2. According to the medical examiner’s office, witnesses saw Rae jump off of the back of the Bahia Belle and land in the water. After he didn’t surface, a search was reportedly undertaken. In the afternoon on Aug. 2, a joint fire-rescue and police dive team found Rae near where he had jumped. Cause of death is yet to be determined. Tennis clinic offered to community Pacific Beach Tennis Club will hold an open house featuring on-court clinics and classes for adults and children that includes prizes and snacks on Aug. 9, 1-3 p.m. at the Pacific Beach Tennis Club. Club professionals Steve Adamson and Simon Shen will run the free clinics. Adamson captained a team from Pacific Beach, which Shen also played on, that won the USTA National Open League Championships in 2006, the first time a San Diego team has captured the title in 22 years. Shen, a former La Jolla High School student, played on the pro tour for several years and won the Davis Cup for Taipei in 2002.
