San Diego 6 News recently announced that meteorologist Jacqueline Bennett will join the station for the morning broadcast as a weather and traffic anchor. Bennett comes to San Diego 6 News from KRON in San Francisco where, since 2008, she was the chief meteorologist for their daily and evening newscasts. Bennett will join Marc Bailey and Heather Myers for San Diego 6 News in the morning weekdays from 5 to 9 a.m., and for “San Diego Living,” the local lifestyle show airing at 9 a.m. “We are thrilled to have a professional broadcast meteorologist such as Jacqueline join our team,” said news director Don Shafer. “Her training, years of experience as a major-market chief meteorologist and her years of community service will fit right in with our commitment to keeping San Diego viewers informed.”
Prior to KRON, Bennett worked at KIVI-TV in Boise, Idaho as an anchor/reporter. She also served as the rink-side reporter for the Idaho Steelheads for Boise’s Cable One. Bennett earned two bachelor of arts degrees from California State University, Northridge and a degree in atmospheric sciences at San Francisco State University. She studied Spanish abroad at La Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. Bennett also taught Spanish at Chaminade College Preparatory School in West Hills, Calif. Bennett has also been awarded the CBM Seal from the American Meteorological Society.
