Competitive athletes Rob and Connor Darnbrough had a fitness “epiphany,” which led them to pioneer a new hybrid training program called The Smart Fit Method, which they expanded recently into La Jolla.

“We’ve developed and perfected an efficient and effective program at our original Cardiff studio, where we’ve helped countless clients achieve total body transformations while freeing up their time to do the other things they love,” said Rob Darnbrough, CEO and co-founder of The Smart Fit Method, which recently debuted at 7863 Girard Ave.

The new La Jolla studio is locally-owned and operated by Marc and Colleen Cormier and James and Chante O’Neill, experienced San Diego business leaders and entrepreneurs.

“We’re excited to work with this team to deliver the same great Smart Fit Method experience in La Jolla while offering our existing clients the ability to achieve the same great workout and results at another San Diego studio location,” says Connor Darnbrough, brand co-founder.

Founded in San Diego in 2020 by a father-son duo, The Smart Fit Method is a science-based fitness program combining exercise robotics and artificial intelligence for perfect personalized training in just three, 20-minute sessions a week. The Smart Fit Method employs the most cutting-edge fitness technology and training equipment that was once only available to professional sports teams and medical facilities, making it accessible to the public.

It all began, said son Connor, when his dad was diagnosed with a heart condition, aortic aneurysm, and was advised: “never to walk up a hill or lift anything over 30 pounds again.”

“He was just a very fit and very high-energy person and was just shocked,” Connor said adding Rob was bedridden a full six months before trying Vasper, a revolutionary health and fitness technology combining compression, cooling, and interval training to help the body reach peak vitality. “In nine months, Vasper took my dad from a cardiac measurement for that of a 60-year-old to that of a 25-year-old, just using it two or three times a week,” Connor said.

At that point, Rob and Connor teamed up to incorporate Vasper into the new Smart Fit Method they were developing. Smart Fit builds strength and muscle, optimizes hormones, and burns fat to elevate users to their maximum potential efficiently and effectively. The innovative program focused on improving longevity is scientifically proven to work with quantifiable measurable results from a monthly Smart Body Scan uploaded to a Smart Fit app to track results. The Smart Fit Method is aiming to give members their time back while achieving their fitness goals.

Connor Darnbrough said Smart Fit employs AI in its exercise equipment that adapts itself to the performance of the user, automatically adjusting itself so the user gets optimum benefit from their workout. “You never overload or underload,” he said of the equipment, adding the method has proven so successful it has become a burgeoning franchise.

The Smart Fit Method also utilizes one trainer for every three or four fitness members, striking just the right balance between instructor and pupil. “It is not overwhelming and doesn’t take up too much of a busy client’s time,” Connor said.

Darnbrough encouraged people to come out to La Jolla and try out the new method. “We offer a $75 body scan for free along with their workout with no obligation,” he noted.

Concluded Connor of their new fitness modality: “It is a healthier, better way to exercise. My father and I started this together, and I’ve seen it help him, my mom, and my girlfriend. I’ve seen it help a lot of people who work out at our facilities. It is a very cool and fulfilling thing to be able to work with people in La Jolla, and see it impact them as well.”
