Formed in Los Angeles in 1995, The Red Elvises celebrate both their Russian heritage and rock ’n’ roll in the time-tested frat-band mode. The group’s biggest claim to fame to date is providing soundtrack music for the 1998 film “Six String Samurai,” with a constant presence on the tour circuit helping them build a devoted fanbase. Appearing at Tio Leo’s on Oct. 21, the Red Elvises excel at mixing in bits of everything from lounge music to reggae, but the strongest influence is surf. Though the band may seem to be a bit gimmicky at times — they even use a giant balalaika in their performances — they are a lot of fun, providing one of the most entertaining and manic shows on the club circuit today. • The Red Elvises perform at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Tio Leo’s, 5302 Napa St. 21 and up.
