Robin Henkel is an encyclopedia of early blues, a virtuoso guitarist and an incredibly charismatic performer – and in acoustic mode, he’s a manic powerhouse, not afraid to stomp and shout if it fits the song. It won’t be long before Henkel, who recently played a series of acclaimed shows in England, goes from national treasure to international star. Henkel is nominated for Best Blues at this year’s San Diego Music Awards, to be held at Humphrey’s Concerts by The Bay on Oct. 6, but in the meantime, on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 12, blues fans won’t want to miss his appearance at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters.
