Culinary aficionados are invited to learn to cook and pair wine on Sunday, April 17 from 3 to 6 p.m., with Whisknladle’s executive chef, Ryan Johnston, and restaurant owner Arturo Kassel at “Cooking With Love,” the first in a series of cooking classes benefitting Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. This year’s classes also feature chefs from Flavor Del Mar and the Marine Room. All proceeds from the classes raise funds for families with seriously ill children. Classes take place in the state-of-the-art kitchen at Ronald McDonald House, located at 2929 Children’s Way. Johnston will prepare pasta rustica Toscana, gnocchi with bolognese, ricotta and Swiss chard ravioli with brown butter and sage, and spaghetti alla chitarra with carbonara. Kassel will pair wines to fit the menu. The three-hour class costs $75 to participate or $50 to observe. Participants, audience members and Ronald McDonald families will enjoy the menu together.
