MTS trolley and bus services powered up for Comic-Con

The Metropolitan Transit System will increase service and offer mobile ticketing on all trolley lines, and on Rapid 215 and Rapid 235 from Wednesday, July 20 through Sunday, July 24 to accommodate the large crowds around downtown during Comic-Con.
With mTicket, passengers can purchase and store transit passes right on their smartphones. Multiple passes can be purchased on one phone too, making it easy to travel with friends and family. The mTickets for one-, two-, three-, four- and five-days are available for $5.50, $10, $13, $16 and $20 respectively. Users of mTicket do not need a Compass Card and can activate the mTicket at any time on the day of travel prior to boarding the Trolley or Rapid 215 and 235. The app is free and is available through the App Store or Google Play. For more information, visit www.sdmts.com/mobile-ticketing.
The Green, Orange and UCSD Blue Lines will depart all stations every 15 minutes most of the day. Train frequency will increase to every 7.5 minutes during peak travel times on the Green Line and UCSD Blue Line. Last trains to depart downtown San Diego will be after midnight. The Green Line’s Convention Center and Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Stations provide direct access to all the activities and action. Trains will be departing along the Green Line every 7.5 minutes most of the day.  Details about the expanded Comic-Con Trolley service can be found on the MTS Comic-Con webpage at www.sdmts.com/comic-con.
Trolley stops with a high capacity of free parking available include:
• Qualcomm Stadium (Green): 5,000 free parking spots
• Old Town Transit Center (Green): 412 free parking spots
• El Cajon Transit Center (Green/Orange): 469 free parking spots
• Massachusetts Avenue Station (Orange): 241 free parking spots
• Palm Avenue Station (UCSD Blue): 499 free parking spots
• Bayfront/E Street Station (UCSD Blue): 267 free parking spots
Rapid 215 and 235 are high-frequency, limited stop bus routes. Rapid 215 runs every 10-15 minutes most of the day from San Diego State University to downtown San Diego with stops along the mid-city corridor. Rapid 235 operates from Escondido to downtown San Diego, with stops along the I-15 corridor, every 15 minutes during weekday peak periods, and every 30 minutes middays and on weekends.
MTS has also printed a limited quantity of commemorative Comic-Con day passes. The five-, four-, three-, and two-day commemorative transit passes are valid on all Trolley lines and most bus routes. Passes can be purchased at select ticket booths or at the Transit Store at the 12th and Imperial Transit Center.
MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services. MTS set a new record in FY 2015 with more than 97 million riders. For more information on how you can use public transportation and save money, go to www.sdmts.com.
