“Trolley to the Past,” one of two large celebrations planned to commemorate Kensington’s 100th anniversary, will be April 17 from 5-9 p.m. Participants will be able to catch the trolley – as shown above with Kensington 100th planners Louise Guarnotta and Karin Claisse – from a number of Kensington locations to a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. The evening will be a throwback to the 1910’s, showcasing photographs of Kensington in its early years plus a very rare 1944 Buster Keaton movie, “San Diego, I Love You,” which was filmed in Kensington. Other silent movies and images from historical events in the early 1900s also will be shown. Ticket price is $80, which includes trolley rides, two alcoholic beverages from Karl Strauss Brewing Company and various California wineries, food from Toast catering, admission to MOPA and all entertainment. Tickets are available at Kensington Video, 4067 Adams Ave.; ZEN Sanctuary, 4183 Adams Ave.; and at Ken100th.com.
