More restaurants and retail set to open at Liberty Station this summer

Liberty Station, a five district hub for hospitality, arts and culture, lifestyle and entertainment, is emerging as one of the most quintessential San Diego experiences for locals and visitors alike. This summer, Liberty Station will welcome the addition of Pisco, a Peruvian rotisserie and cevicheria, an elegant cocktail bar in Moniker General, a healthy poke concept, Poke 123, Club Pilates, and a plethora of new artisans within Liberty Public Market. Frequenters of Liberty Station can also look forward to the fall debuts of North Park’s famed boutique, Pigment, Chloe at Scout and the formerly announced El Jardin restaurant. Peruvian rotisserie A cuisine formally foreign to the San Diego dining landscape, a colorful Peruvian rotisserie and cevicheria named Pisco, at 2401 Truxton Road, will find a home in Liberty Station within a 5,000 square-foot indoor-outdoor eatery helmed by executive chef/partner, Emmanuel Piqueras, and San Diego-based restaurateur, Sami Ladeki. An ardent supporter of authenticity, Ladeki has teamed up with Piqueras to develop a menu of Peruvian specialties complimented by San Diego’s largest selection of Pisco-driven cocktails (Pisco being the national spirit of Peru). Pisco will also feature a selection of South American wines and beers. Pisco plans to open its doors to the public on July 27.
“San Diego brings back memories of my home in Lima – the ocean, the ambiance, and the abundance of local fisherman and farmers,” Piqueras said. “Just like Peru, San Diego is a cultural melting pot, and a place that focuses on fresh produce and proteins, which is what we are incorporating with our pollo a la brasa and ceviche – two Peruvian specialties that will remain at the heart of our menu at Pisco.” For more information, visit www.piscorotisserie.com. POKÉ 1·2·3
Bringing a fresh, fast and healthy option to Liberty Station, POKÉ 1·2·3 is preparing for a late-summer opening in Liberty Station’s former Postal Annex building, at 2850 Womble Road. In addition to traditional seafood offerings, POKÉ 1·2·3 will feature chicken and vegan options, for a unique 1·2·3 choice of proteins.
Each protein will be available in three customizable formats including bowls, Norritos (nori wrapped burritos), and a fresh taco interpretation called Poke Waves. The 1,052 square-foot space will offer in-house and patio seating, online ordering and delivery from their efficient three-step menu. Club Pilates
After opening their first studio in San Diego in 2005, Club Pilates has expanded nationally, introducing the reformer-based workout classes around the country. Located in NTC Building 193, at 2750 Dewey Road, the 2,500 square-foot fitness studio will house state-of-the-art equipment for various group classes ranging from introductory level to high-energy functioning interval training.

Pigment The famed North Park shop, known for its curated collection of local, artisanal products, gifts and design-forward furniture, will open its second location this fall in historic Building 11, at 2865 Sims Road, which served as the former Naval Training Center’s post office and general store. Husband-and-wife owners, Chad Anglin and Amy Paul, will bring their feminine, picturesque aesthetic to a second, and larger, homestead that will offer 3,000-square-feet of interior retail space, a 2,000-square-foot patio that will double as an outdoor terrarium bar for shoppers to create their own unique plant arrangements, as well as an area for private events.
For more information, visit www.shoppigment.com. El Jardin John Engman of Rise and Shine Restaurant Group (Breakfast Republic, Fig Tree Café), alongside the former Bracero Cocina de Raiz’s Chef de Cuisine, Claudette Aimee Wilkins, will open El Jardin in early 2018. El Jardin’s 8,800-square-foot space (with an additional 5,500 square-foot patio) will offer a sophisticated menu of traditional and modern Mexican dishes accompanied by an extensive selection of tequila and mezcal to accompany their authentic south of the border aesthetic.

Chloe at Scout Business partners Alison McGrath and John Clute are bringing East Village’s European-style Café Chloe to Liberty Station in the early fall. Situated on the picturesque grounds of Scout @ Quarters D, at 2675 Rosecrans St., Chloe at Scout will offer light Provençal fare, village wines and garden-inspired cocktails in a gorgeous open-air setting.

With more than 30 vendors filling the historic hallways, Blue Bridge Hospitality has developed an eclectic marketplace that brings together cuisines from all around the world. This summer, Liberty Public Market is making room for the addition of five unique concepts — each contributing to the market’s diverse culinary variety.
Now open are Saganaki (Greek fusion), Smoothie Rider (organic smoothies), and Holbrook Home and Gift (candles and gifts). Opening in late July are Doughballs (wood-fired pizza), Crackheads (all day breakfast), and Roma Express (Italian Arancini and cannoli). In last August, Rakiraki Ramen (authentic Japanese ramen) is scheduled to open.
