The Mission Beach Town Council has a membership goal of 400 for 2016. We need your support to accomplish this goal. With an increased membership, our board resolutions will carry a stronger voice with our elected officials. So it is still not too late. Act now. Check out our website page at missionbeachtc.com for an application form to mail in or just register online. This is an added feature for 2016 memberships; thus, give it your attention today. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and/or Nextdoor Mission Beach for the most recent community updated information.
Pacific Real Estate Services Inc. recently received the good news that the Belmont Park Plunge renovations were approved by the California Coastal Commission at its Jan. 14 meeting. Another issue concerning our members is the seawall repairs. Work started just after Labor Day, and the section from Ventura Court to San Fernando is well under way, with the first concrete pours having recently taken place. The City informed the board last week in an email that it is on target to finish by Memorial Day. On a not-so-positive issue, the new South Mission Beach Lifeguard Station won’t be going forward, as Superior Court Judge Katherine Bacal ruled the City of San Diego violated the city’s own site development process. City Council has not yet discussed if it plans to appeal the ruling.
And we continue to work hard on a solution with the City for the trash and flies issue.
These are just a few of the many community issues the Town Council is monitoring to continue to improve our community. So, once again, get involved by being a member, and don’t forget that the next scheduled general meeting will be held 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Belmont Park Community Room, North End. Hope to see you there. Klaus Mendenhall
