On the basketball court, the Bucs, under head coach Vince Ichihara, came into action this week with a record of 7-13 (2-3 in league play).
“Our team has done a great job as a group,” Ichihara said. “With the mix of varsity returners, new varsity players and transfers we are still learning to play with each other and are getting better each time out. “We have played up to our potential in quarters and if we can continue to get better and get into the playoffs and learn to play up to our potential in a full game we will be force to be reckoned with,” Ichihara said. In the pool, the Bucs come into play this week with a 10-6 overall record (4-1 in league action) for head coach Lyndsay Sutterley. According to Sutterley, key members have included Piper McCarty, Izanna Hypse and Callie Mclain. The team is having a strong season with big wins over OLP, Santa Fe Christian, and Mira Mesa. “The Bucs boast a strong defensive line anchored by junior goalkeeper Callie McClain and junior guard Lauren Meredith, and have been bolstered by the emergence of sophomores Sydney Paul and Natalie Kracha,” Sutterley noted.
