Mission Bay students get their act together for talent show

This year’s annual Mission Bay High School talent show is titled “Get Your Act Together” and the school is in the stages of doing just that.
On Friday, June 10 the Mission Bay High auditorium will be packed with talent, celebrity judges and surprises.
The show will be hosted by two seniors, Dominic La Frantz, director and star of the school’s production of “Ashland Falls,” and Katie Johnson, a singer in the school’s jazz band and last year’s talent show winner.
“The entire community comes out for this wonderful evening showcasing the talented students of Mission Bay High School,” said Jennifer Tandy, chair of Mission Bay Cluster Schools.
According to Camille Osburn, a stage manager and member of the student production team, the talent show is always an exhilarating time of year for the students and teachers.
Planning for the show began a month ago and auditions will be held at the high school this week. The show is expected to have nearly 20 different acts including rock bands, hip hop dancers, Broadway-style vocalists, comedians and more.
There are cash prizes for the first, second and third place acts as well as awards for the most creative, most professional, most polished and most entertaining acts.
The talent show has been an incredibly popular event in the community for the past five years and, according to Tandy, they are expecting nothing different this year. Last year there were more than 400 people in attendance and they raised nearly $2,000. The money from the show helps fund senior games and activities.
The talent show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 at the door.
