Take a trip down memory lane, when prime Mission Beach lots could be purchased for a few hundred dollars and a ride on the new Big Dipper rollercoaster would cost riders a mere 15 cents at the upcoming Mission Beach Town Council’s (MBTC) historical review.
The Wednesday, April 9, event at the Mission Beach Woman’s Club will feature a slide show of historic photos dating from 1914 to the present.
Terry Curran and Phil Prather, authors of “Mission Beach,” which is part of the Images of America book series, will present the slide slow featuring the historic photos capturing the birth and development of Mission Beach. They will also present a number of never-published historic photos, old newspaper clippings and rare maps they’ve collected during the work on their book, which will also be on sale at the event.
Prather continues to seek historic photos, documents and maps of Mission Beach, so anyone with a collection is invited to bring them to the event or call him at (858) 488-7805.
Seating for the event is limited to 110 guests and early RSVPs are recommended. To RSVP, email MBTC President Mary Swenson at [email protected] or call (858) 488-7347.
The Mission Beach Woman’s Club is located at 840 Santa Clara Place. The event begins at 7 p.m.
