Save Our Heritage Organisation’s “May Day at the Marston House: San Diego’s Garden Party” will be May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A dozen notable plein-air artists will show and sell their work under a live oak tree at this event organized to benefit restoration of the Marston House gardens and grounds at 3525 Seventh Ave., at the northwest corner of Balboa Park.
Participants will not shop with a thirst – the event offers two beverage and food options. The first is a tea garden with assorted pastries, scones, tea sandwiches and a choice of hot or iced teas for $12. The second is a wine garden (21 and over) sponsored by Wine Steals with flight samples of California wines (or two full glasses) in Wine Steals’ complimentary commemorative Marston House wine glasses for $25. Regional fruit and cheese will also be served with the wine. Both the tea and wine areas will be accompanied by live music.
The Garden Party will also offer gardening and nature activities and guided house and garden tours. Proceeds from the event will benefit the restoration of the Marston House grounds and gardens. For more information and to buy tickets, go to sohosandiego.org.
