Dates: Thursdays, March 2, 2023Join us for a special storytime with Child Life specialist Alyssa Pettingill. We will talk about doctor and dentist visits and ways to feel brave during these new experiences. Bring your favorite stuffed animal to be your pretend patient—we will make them feel better! Students will learn how batteries work, then use hands-on problem-solving techniques to assemble a working battery and measure the voltage created. This is an in-person workshop. Time: 1:00 p.m. Title: Oasis Presents: San Diego Women and Their Role in World War IIDescription: Once the shock of the bombing of Pearl Harbor subsided, the women of San Diego found their lives changing dramatically. Married women whose husbands joined the war effort had to become head of the household, mother their children, and maybe be the breadwinner all at the same time! Single women lost their traditional social lives as sweethearts and beaus joined the service. For all women, there was the challenge of transitioning from a male-dominated world to one where they could be responsible for their own actions and plan for their own futures. Come hear about the real experiences of San Diego women as they lived through this tumultuous period of history! This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to pre-register.

Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023 Time: 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Title: Spring into STEAM with San Diego Jones: A Virtual Reality Adventure Location: Community Room Description: Explore ruins of the world right from San Diego in this dynamic & exciting new adventure! Students will survey ancient ruins using VR/AR technology. Each site will prompt a cryptography-themed problem to solve using artifact clues, while bridging ancient and modern concepts. Students will also learn a variety of core STEAM concepts like typing, electrical engineering, and computer programming fundamentals that will act as a foundation to understanding all adventure theme topics.
