
The suspect, a 45-year-old male, was threatening to commit suicide by dousing himself with gasoline about 4 p.m. July 9 on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay. The victim is a 46-year-old female. The suspect grabbed the victim by the wrist and doused her in gasoline and tried to set her on fire with a lighter. The victim got out of his grip and ran away and called the police. Officers searched Fiesta Island for the suspect and after an hour he was taken into custody. There is no relationship between the two, they’re just acquaintances. There were no significant injuries. The suspect was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Area detectives are investigating.
