A 29-year-old man suffered burns after an early morning house fire in South Mission Beach Monday, Tuesday, Dec. 26.
According to firefighters, the fire started when a couch set too close to a floor furnace ignited before 5:30 a.m. at a house on the 800 block of Aspen Court.
Fire crews responded at approximately 5:36 and doused the flames. Neighbors discovered the fire before the firemen arrived and used garden hoses to help slow the spread of the flames.
The man who suffered burns was taken to the UCSD burn unit for treatment, while a second Man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. A spokesman for the San Diego Fire Department said damaged was estimated to be approximately $140,000.
