THURSDAY, April 25 A fundraiser to benefit The One Fund Boston — benefiting victims of the Boston Marathon bombings — will take place at Thrusters Lounge in Pacific Beach from 6 to 9 p.m. The event includes free samples from Bite of Boston, along with a raffle and T-shirt sales. FRIDAY, April 26 Rock and Roll San Diego (RRSD) School of Music will present renowned flamenco guitarist Max Herzog and his trio at RRSD’s Hendrix Hall, located at 3360 Sports Arena Blvd, Suite A. Herzog has traveled the world demonstrating his craft skills and has flown from Europe just to perform this one night for San Diegans. According to event organizers, this will be an unforgettable evening for friends, family, fans and enthusiasts alike. Seats are limited and are expected to sell out. Call and reserve a seat at early. Registration is $45 per person. Registration for a team of four people is $160. Registration includes “Best of the Beach” fish tacos from The Sandbar. The event also includes a beer garden. Wells Fargo Outrigger Challenge and Luau returns to Crown Point Shores for the 12th year. In addition to the competition, the event features a luau and raffle. The entry fee is $225 per team. SUNDAY, April 28 West Coast Paddle Sports will host an “SUP Chicks Standup for the Cure” event, featuring beginner lessons and an advanced paddle clininc from 9 a.m. to noon. The proceeds go to benefit the fight against breast cancer, and every $125 raised buys a mammogram through the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The event includes instruction and a Hawaiian lunch provided by Leilani’s Café, along with ukulele music by Zenia Panano. The event covers four skill levels, from beginner level 1 to advanced, and takes place at Mission Bay behind the Bahia Resort Hotel on Gleason Road. A $50 tax-deductible donation is suggested. SATURDAY, May 4 Christ Lutheran Church in Pacific Beach will host a free concert by the St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble. The noted Russian singers will perform traditional Russian music. MAY 11-19 The San Diego River Park Foundation’s San Diego River Days takes place across local communities with free events like hikes, bike rides, garden tours, children’s activities and more. WEDNESDAY, May 8 The Pacific Beach Town Council will host a Sundowner mixer event event at 5:30 p.m. to promote interaction between merchants and residents. There is a $10 charge for non-members. Members will be charged $5. The event, however, is free for those becoming a member that night.
