The 13th annual Concours d’Elegance weekend April 7-9 is almost here and La Jolla’s business improvement district wants guests to know restaurants and shopping to satisfy all their needs is in the Village which is near.
The premier luxury and classic car show held on Scripps Park lawn each year on an early spring Sunday sprawls into La Jolla’s business district, drawing automobile aficionados from all over the planet.
And La Jolla Village Merchants Association is all in on the festivities, hosting a number of activities complementing the event.
LJVMA president James Niebling noted music will be playing throughout the Village on Saturday afternoon of event weekend.
“From 2 to 6 p.m. we’re going to have local musicians performing at four or five different locations throughout the Village,” said Niebling noting LJVMA promotional banners will also be strategically placed throughout town.
Niebling noted Village restaurants will be getting more hands-on with “tray passing” at this year’s Concours.
“La Valencia (pink hotel) and Pizza 1909 will have pre-fixe menus for the weekend and will be doing tray passing outside of their business locations adding to the celebration in the Village,” said the merchant group’s president.
Once again this year, local businesses, nonprofits and charities will benefit from a program involving a promotion code. Event participants can have a portion of their ticket cost donated back to a deserving group of their choice. Those buying tickets on the event website can put in the special promotion code, which earmarks a portion of proceeds to be donated to a designated deserving group.
“We’re encouraging local merchants to reach out to their clientele to use the promotion codes in their ticket purchases,” said Niebling adding LJVMA is one of the participating groups.
Concerning recent LJVMA developments, Niebling said the merchant group is progressing with plans to revitalize its existing website, www.lajollabythesea.com.
