POINT LOMA — Beginning Friday, Nov. 5, the second annual San Diego Beer Week (SDBW) returns for a 10-day run, including a major event at Liberty Station in Point Loma. The celebration of all things brewed encompasses more than 300 events, ranging from festivals, pairing dinners, brewing classes and opportunities to meet the master brewers. “San Diego has built a reputation as one of the premier beer destinations in the world, and San Diego Beer Week is a great opportunity to experience that beer culture,” said Melody Daversa, spokesperson for Karl Strauss Brewing Company. The San Diego Brewers Guild, a coalition of local brewers working to promote the craft, will be hosting a Guild Festival kick-off event on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Liberty Station in Point Loma, featuring live music and a VIP session where attendees can sample rare casks and meet the brewers. The general admission price is $35 for 10 tastes from San Diego’s top breweries, along with food and live music. For a $50 ticket, brew aficionados can participate through the rest of the event. The Liberty Station festival takes place at 2640 Historic Decatur Road. Throughout the celebration also, The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma — located at 1410 Rosecrans St. — will offer $3 pints of local beers beginning at 5 p.m., and on Nov. 7, Phil’s BBQ — located at 3750 Sports Arena Blvd., will host its own beer festival. San Diego Beer Week closes Sunday, Nov. 14 with a beer garden celebration at the Lodge at Torrey Pines with two dozen of San Diego’s top chefs cooking up gourmet food for paring with a select brewers. For more information and a complete list of events, prices, and schedules visit www.sdbw.org.
