Re: “Numbers in on Independent La Jolla,” (March 17, Page 1). In my 41 years of living in La Jolla, I have read many stories in our local press about seeking legal independence for our Village. But your feature made the most sense. So, mark me down as a supporter of this proposal! I hope the proponents will move forward a vote on the matter with our residents. The La Jolla Town Council is powerless to influence city government on our behalf. I hope you will have a follow-up article with the pros and cons on this issue.  — Phil Harris lives in La Jolla.
