Late summer is Haute in Bird Rock

Bird Rock welcomes Haute Culture Boutique for its revitalized sense of fashion and client-directed philanthropy. Less than three months ago, Gitty Arayfar, owner of Gitty Design and Dana Ashli in La Jolla, decided she wanted to create something new in the area. After turning over the privilege and responsibility to Brazil-born Andrea Nicolau and Californian Jennifer Deer, a new and exotic shopping experience was born.
Nicolau and Deer have joined fashion forces to bring in designers from Los Angeles, France, New York and Italy. As their clientele increases, so does their dedication to bringing uniqueness to those who seek it. For Haute Culture, the idea to continue adding to the diversity of the store will be served by traveling to Brazil and other locations in search of more unique tastes.
Nicolau said that they are always in search of items that represent various cultures, and can add to the cultural theme within the store.
“Dresses are popular now, so we make sure to incorporate dresses that can be worn for any occasion,” Nicolau said.
Already in store now are distinguished designers such as Jollay, Jak & Rae, Atos Lombardini, We the People, Odyn Denim and Charlotte Tarantala.
“Mimi Turner’s line is one that seems to be doing really well right now,” Nicolau said. “Love and Liberty is a fabulous upcoming design that we expect to have in the store real soon.”
The interior of the store is welcoming and beachy as window displays are lined with white sand and seashells. The clothing in the store fits the ambiance. In a feel that is both contemporary yet cozy, styles include Japanese sophistication with a bit of Hollywood integration, and that’s not all.
“What we are trying to do here is create unique ensembles within an affordable price range for a high-end boutique,” Nicolau said. “We want people to find things they won’t find in a department store, but still find that affordable price.”
For those who are seeking the perfect summer sale, wait no longer ” Haute Culture, along with Flow Boutique and Soak in the City, are holding a summer sale that runs through the last week in August. The sale will get the boutique ready for its upcoming fall collection and winter shoe and boot selections. With genuine gold jewelry and fine accessories, Haute Culture Boutique anticipates a great year of dressing and dazzling Bird Rock residents as well as visitors from all over.
“The store is a great size for what we want to offer,” Nicolau said. “We intend on renting out the big back room to someone who has something similar to offer. We are looking for someone who also caters to women with creativity.”
Haute Culture Boutique is located at 5628 La Jolla Blvd. For directions or information, call (858) 551-8665.
