One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest comes to La Mesa’s Lamplighters Community Theatre March 3-26. The theatre is located at 5915 Severin Drive.

By Dale Wasserman and based on the novel by Ken Kesey, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is directed by Jennifer Peters and produced by Pamela Stompoly.

After being convicted of a petty crime, a charming, rebellious rogue named R.P. McMurphy contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison.

He soon learns this was a mistake. He immediately clashes with authoritarian head nurse, the fierce Nurse Ratched. Despite Ratched’s strict reign, McMurphy, quickly charms other patients, leading them out of introversion, into staging a revolt so they can watch the World Series on television and even arranging a midnight party with liquor and women. But McMurphy’s brash insubordination has dire consequences.

The cast includes Teri Brown, George Bulahan, Michelle Burkhart, Richard Cajka, Katy Carter, Faith Carrion, John Carroll, Tom DeLorenzo, Dylan Napieralski, M.G. Perez, Charles Peters, William Rickman, Gary Tallaksen, Eric Trigg, Dani Ucman and Jerry Young.

Admission is $25; students/seniors/military: $22 (group rates available). Tickets can be purchased at lamplighterslamesa.com or by calling the box office at (619) 303-5092 and leaving a message.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest contains adult situations and language. This show is best suited for those over the age of 16 and is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
