Former San Diego Chargers superstar LaDainian Tomlinson, a fan favorite years ago, is joining the effort to win a new stadium and keep the Chargers in San Diego.
Prior to being inducted into the San Diego Hall of Champions Breitbard Hall of Fame on Feb. 24, the ex-running back said: “Everywhere I walk around town, that’s what I hear: ‘Help the Chargers stay here.’ I heard it a thousand times today, so I’m going to do my part to try to make sure the San Diego Chargers stay in San Diego.”
He mentioned to a television reporter a conversation he had with San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer.
“He’s the first mayor to say ‘I want this to happen, I want the Chargers here,'” Tomlinson said.
And that, he said, gives him hope. He said he is willing to lend his voice in the charge. That begged the question: What is he going to do and say?
“I’m not quite sure yet,” he said. “Even if I was sure, I don’t know if I would let it out of the bag yet.”
