An angry La Jolla driver who rammed a parking enforcement vehicle after he got a parking ticket will be sentenced July 28 after he pleaded guilty to assault with a vehicle.
Court records say Peter Alex Dreier, 42, of Hillcrest, will likely be placed on three years probation but may be sentenced up to a year in county jail in San Diego Superior Court.
The incident took place around noon on April 19 in the 800 block of Prospect Street when Dreier intentionally rammed a three-wheeled police department scooter. Dreier was driving a red Saab convertible and he knocked the scooter over, briefly trapping the San Diego Police enforcement officer inside.
The officer was taken to a hospital with only minor injuries. Dreier fled the scene, but returned sometime later with an attorney. Police then arrested him.
Dreier pleaded guilty in June before Judge Polly Shamoon to assault with a deadly weapon in which he admitted his vehicle was the weapon. Two counts of hit and run will be dismissed at sentencing. Dreier reportedly got a ticket for parking in a loading zone.
Dreier remains free on $30,000 bond with the condition that he have no contact with the parking enforcement officer.
