The La Jolla Town Council will hold a second public forum on short-term vacation rentals in San Diego residential areas. The forum will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at the La Jolla Recreation Center, located at 615 Prospect Street. This meeting will be held after the Council’s regular 5:30 p.m. business meeting. This important issue affects quality of life, property values, and the growing housing shortage in San Diego. Last year, the town council voted to prohibit vacation rentals in residential areas by a vote of 11-0.
Recently, several new ordinances have been proposed without regard to the existing regulations that are still not being enforced. The purpose of this second La Jolla Town Council forum is to provide short comparisons of the existing and proposed regulations and their impacts on our neighborhoods. San Diego City Council is tentatively scheduled to vote on this issue soon and the public is encouraged to attend the forum to make their voices heard. The current regulations, two proposed SD City Council Ordinances (Bry and Ward) will be compared as well as the Safe San Diego proposal. Members of the public are invited to attend and speak. Other items on the agenda include a presentation on the prohibition of use of LJHS facilities and Challenged Athletes Event on Oct. 22 will be briefed.
