The dinner party will take place at the museum’s oceanfront terrace at 7 p.m. with mouthwatering dishes from local suppliers, specialty cocktails and an art installation by Brian Dick and Wendell Kling. Guests can also bid on contemporary design masterpieces in a silent auction. The event, hosted by MCASD’s special-interest group Avant Garde, will benefit MCASD’s exhibition and education programs. Tickets to the event are $100 for general admission and $75 for Avant Garde members. VIP “Velvet Rope” tickets are $150 for general admission and $125 for Avant Garde members. MUST HEAR As part of the La Jolla Community Center’s Distinguished Speaker Series, Supervisor Ron Roberts invites residents to hear him speak about the state of the county’s finances and its operations, from libraries to air quality. Roberts represents the county’s Fourth District and is serving this year as board chairman. After a 20-year career in architecture, Roberts served two terms on the City Council, representing District 2. Roberts is known for his commitments to fiscal discipline, at-risk youth, senior issues, clean air and long-range planning. His goals in regional transit include building an extension of the trolley from Old Town to UCSD and University Towne Center.
