The free La Jolla Art & Wine Festival returns for its 14th year from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9.
With spectacular coastline and picturesque views, La Jolla is the setting for this weekend of creative celebration. Visitors can expect prestigious art, regional and international wines, craft beer and spirits, a high-end silent auction, an all-star music line-up, roving entertainment, a gourmet food court, over 15 pet rescue stations, as well as interactive, family-friendly fun.
The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival features more than 160 hand-selected juried artists from across the United States and Mexico. Artists from all backgrounds will display exquisite creations in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, jewelry design, fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media, and photography.
Festival visitors age 21 and up can sample wines from Valle De Guadalupe, California, Italy, and France, and taste a wide variety of internationally renowned brews and spirits by several San Diego craft breweries and distilleries in the Wine and Beer Garden in the center of the festival, which boasts over 13,000 square feet with ample seating, shade, and room to dance.
This year’s Wine and Beer Garden is a ticketed event and runs from noon-6 p.m. with the last pour at 5:30 p.m. The lineup in the Wine and Beer Garden will feature a diverse range of live acts including jazz, reggae, folk, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, attendees can listen to Joseph Luna, Jason Mann, The Smokin’ Boles Blues Band, Ginger Roots, and The Naked I. Sunday’s line-up boasts local musicians Jorge Camberos Duo, Blazing Jane Band, Whiskey & Burlap, Finnegan Blue, and fan favorite Full Strength.
For attendees who want to show off their creative talents, a free, unique, community art project led by Autumn Love will take place for artists of all ages and skill levels. Autumn’s artistic mission is to heal the world through the power and energy of love. Her interactive art project will combine the message of love, gratitude, and togetherness.
The Geppetto’s Family Art Center is also back at this year’s event. This free family area features hands-on crafts and interactive art for kids of all ages, as well as science experiments, 3-D printing, robotics, body movement, face painting, and more.
All profits raised benefit under-funded programs such as art, music, science, physical education, technology, and on-site medical care at La Jolla’s five public schools. Since its inception, the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival has donated more than $1 million to these schools for the educational benefit of more than 4,000 children.
