Friends of Patti Cooprider are putting out a call to the public asking them to submit some of her handpainted greeting cards for an upcoming exhibition. Read their message below:
Hello to the friends of Patti Cooprider, wherever you may live! We need your help. We are requesting a loan of Patti’s hand-painted cards to be included in “Patti’s Spirit Lives! 40 Year Art Retrospective,” a 5-day exhibition opening on April 27.
We’ve just been scheduled with ICA for a grand “Patti’s Spirit Lives! 40 Year Art Retrospective.” A wall-to-wall exhibition spanning over 5,000 square feet at Balboa Park during Patti’s birthday, April 28th (1940-2021). Selections from 500 significant works of contemporary art dating back to 1980. Nothing is for sale, all to be given away to Donors to “Patti’s Spirit Lives! KidsArtEd Fund” and believers in Patti’s dream:
“Every child in the world experience creation & love of art.”
Here’s where we need your help. We want to devote a section of “Patti’s Spirit Lives! 40 Year Art Retrospective” to the phenomenon of Patti’s original hand-painted greeting cards, people everywhere saved them. “She sent out thousands to friends worldwide, including Vava, Marc Chagall’s widow, and our taxi driver in Istanbul, both for 20 years,” Coop Cooprider said. “We’re launching a search for Patti’s many friends who saved her cards, for loan, during the 5-day exhibition. After the 5-day event, the cards will be returned to their owners.”
Vickie Ladt wrote, “Hello Coop and family. I love reading about Patti Karma. I have found myself talking to Patti several times when I come into contact with her many framed cards in my office.”
Have a card? Here’s how to get it to us:
Place name, address, contact info on the back. Card(s) will be returned following the 5-day exhibition. And if you wish, a note of your personal experience with Patti would be nice.
Send cards to: Coop Cooprider, P.O. Box 927654, San Diego, CA 92192 or we can meet at Peet’s Coffee. Call me on my landline: (858) 731-9635. Thank you!
