The long-awaited opening of a new boutique grocery store serving Point Loma is almost here.
Jensen’s Finest Foods, taking over the former Fresh & Easy space at Talbot and Catalina boulevards, has a mid-November opening planned. A hiring fair with interviews for prospective new employees will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 30, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at 955 Catalina Blvd. Go to Jensensfoods.com/careers to access an application. Community volunteers are also organizing a welcoming neighborhood block party for Jensen’s in the parking lot at the Catalina/Talbot shopping center. When it was learned CVS might acquire the site, outraged neighbors, who wanted a grocery store there, not a pharmacy, immediately started an online petition drive on change.org, which ultimately secured the desired result.
