The commercial property located on the corner of Mission Boulevard and Ventura Place, primarily known for Mr. Ruriberto’s on the first floor right across the corner from Belmont Park, will be seeing a transformation.
The upstairs of this nearly century-old property was home to a hostel for many years, but it was mismanaged. The combination of missing rent payments and operating against the terms of the contract eventually led to an eviction ending with a sheriff lockout. Since then, the space has sat vacant for nearly five years.
Last summer, the owner of the property Seth Pite started working on leasing out this property on behalf of the Franco Realty Group. Nine months later, a deal has just been signed with the International Traveler’s House (ITH), which will be occupying the space as a co-work/co-live location where individuals will have the opportunity to experience a beach lifestyle less than 500 feet from the sand.
Locals are familiar with the ITH team and their Beach Bungalow location they took over at the end of Reed Street about 5-6 years ago. Since that acquisition, they have significantly improved the hostel’s physical condition as well as its reputation in the area.
ITH has five other locations across California, along with a surf resort located in La Fonda (Baja California, Mexico). Run by Jimmy Black and Bobby Dyer, ITH is a young and ambitious team, aiming to expand into a bigger and better venture as they continue to grow their brand and acquire new locations.
