Pro-Israel supporters fill the field July 23 at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, 4126 Executive Drive, one of two rallies held in University City.
Despite the heat, a crowd estimated at 1,500 gathered to express solidarity with the Jewish state as fighting continues between Israel and Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon, with civilians on both sides caught in the middle.
Counter-demonstrators protested across the street.
Speakers at the event included Congresswoman Susan Davis, Mayor Jerry Sanders, Gary Jacobs and Gilad Milo from the Israeli Consulate.
The United Jewish Federation of San Diego County with the Jewish Community Foundation has raised more than $100,000 for emergency relief.
