MISSION BEACH — The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) will hold its annual Summer Horseshoe Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m. It will be held at Mariner’s Point on Mission Bay across from the Bahia Hotel. The event will raise funds for the UCSD Cancer Unit. Participants can sign up at The Pennant in Mission Beach, 2893 Mission Blvd., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 1. The cost is $30 per player and $20 per non-player. The event offers food, alcohol and entertainment. The tournament is a blind-draw, beginning with a round-robin format. The top teams will move into single elimination play with a cash prize for the winner and raffle prizes for contestants. OMBAC encourages participants to bring their sunscreen, chair and athletic skills down to Mariner’s Point to help raise money for charity.
