
A 51-year-old homeless male was sleeping in his vehicle at 800 San Fernando Place on April 21 at 1:45 a.m. He was awakened by an acquaintance who was knocking on the vehicle window. The victim opened the door of the vehicle to speak to the acquaintance. The discussion became an argument, and the suspect produced an unknown type of sharp object. The suspect then slashed the weapon at the victim. The victim sustained an approximate 3-inch laceration to his right hand. The suspect then fled on foot heading northbound into the park. The victim called police to report the incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital by paramedics for his non-life threatening injury. The suspect is described as a white male transient in his 40s with a stocky build. The suspect was wearing a red shirt. Northern Division detectives will be conducting the investigation.
