Holiday cheer is back in Little Italy with the 23rd Annual Tree Lighting & Christmas Village

By Chris Gomez

We’re so excited to bring back our annual Little Italy Tree Lighting & Christmas Village on Saturday, Dec. 4th from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Last year, families welcomed us into their homes with our Little Italy Holiday Special virtual tree lighting experience and this year we can’t wait to have everyone back in our neighborhood celebrating the holidays and joining in the fun.

Our annual Tree Lighting & Christmas Village kicks-off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. Families will be able to walk around and take in the new holiday décor created by Little Italy’s own elves, including shimmery kinetic spiral trees and modern-inspired triangle trees. Neighborhood favorites like the 10-foot-tall gold nutcrackers, the Aurora Tree, a 25-foot Venetian inspired tree designed by California artist Joshua Hubert, located in the center of Piazza Basilone and the permanent 25’ tall live tree in the Piazza della Famiglia, will also be in full display.

Take a stroll through the Christmas Village and purchase some locally handmade, one-of-a-kind gifts from our local vendors and crafters, for everyone on your list. Sweet treats and delicious eats will also be available, while the sounds of live music fills the crisp Little Italy night air.

With your holiday shopping done and treats in hand, head over to the Piazza della Famiglia for the time-honored Italian countdown and tree lighting at 6:30 p.m., but first be sure to stop by the Big Red Mailbox, located at India & W. Date, and write your own letter to Santa. Kids of all ages can tell him what they’ve been up to, what’s on their Christmas list this year, and even draw him a picture! If you aren’t able to stop by the Letters to Santa booth, you can also email your letter to Santa at [email protected] and when Santa has some down time, he will respond.

There’s nothing quite like the magic of the holidays in Little Italy, and we hope you’ll join the celebration this year. Wishing you and your families a Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo.
