One of the major tasks of the Community Council was concentrated in the first week of December 2022. On Dec. 4, 2022 a crew from the Community Council, Kiwanis, and Council District 7 put up the lights over Waring Road and at the Waring/Zion Triangle.

The following Wednesday, we held a ceremony to turn on the lights at the Triangle. Outstanding Students Desiree Peterson from Foster School and Lucy Smithey from Marvin School threw the switch. We were honored by the attendance of Councilmember Raul Campillo. Then on Thursday, we held the Holiday Festival at Lewis Middle School.

This event included a performance by the Lewis Band, Holiday Readings by the Lewis students, and a performance by Marvin Elementary students. The Grantville/Allied Gardens Optimist Club funded a drawing for Barnes and Noble gift certificates.

Our next town hall meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 24, and will feature a presentation by the Food Bank that is sponsored by Ascension Church in partnership with the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank.
