I read with disgust, but not surprise, the recent ad hominem attack on Gary Halbert’s volunteer work chairing the Rosecrans Corridor study (“Latest Rosecrans corridor study a waste of time,” June 25 Beacon, page 6). The attacker, James Gilhooly, chose to attack Gary professionally and personally with unsupported allegations and the same old paranoid hyperbole. I have known Gary for years and know him to be a superbly qualified professional, especially in traffic matters. His volunteer efforts on behalf of the community prove once again the old adage that “no good deed goes unpunished.” I do not know James Gilhooly, other than his rantings in the Beacon, but I can say that in my more than two decades serving this community as a volunteer, in virtually every capacity, I never once encountered him, nor am I aware of any particular contribution of his.
