A trombonist plays with gusto at Pacific Beach Concerts on the Green, the summer series of free, outdoor concerts held at Kate Sessions Park every Sunday from July 19 to Aug. 16 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sue Palmer and Her Motel Swing Orchestra will jumpstart the series with swinging blues. On July 26, Agua Dulce will take the stage with salsa, merengue and Latin funk. On Aug. 2, the U.S. Navy Big Band will perform. Rockola, a ’60s and ’70s band, will follow on Aug. 9. Thunder Road, a tribute to Bruce Springsteen, finishes the show on Aug. 16. PB Concerts on the Green is funded through $30,000 in grants from County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price. The Pacific Beach Town Council and Pacific Beach Community Foundation applied for the grants and organized the concert series.
