Liberty Station will be brimming with family entertainment, music, food and activities during the next installment of Friday Night Liberty on Friday, Oct. 3.
There will be two dance performances, including Malashock Dance showing excerpts from its annual Malashock RAW show at 6 and 7 p.m. San Diego Dance Theater will also be showing excerpts from its wildly popular Trolley Dances at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the White Box Live Arts space.
In addition, there will be two international exhibitions: The San Diego Watercolor Society presents its world-renowned international exhibition with more than 95 paintings; and Visions Art Museum: Contemporary Quilts + Textiles, which will show its 13th annual international biennial to highlight selected works from over 524 submissions. The San Diego Museum Council will host the Gaslamp Players as they present historic vignettes based on the early history of San Diego. These costumed performers portray some of San Diego’s most interesting characters, from Alonzo Horton, “Father of New San Diego,” to Chief of Police Keno Wilson and to Ida Bailey, the popular madame who ran the high-class brothel Canary Cottage.
Other highlights of Friday Night Liberty:
• “Cuban Captives: The Cars of Cuba,” a new photo exhibit at Outside the Lens, Barracks 15
• Italian culinary perfection at Solare Ristorante, Building 201
• The fresh sounds of Joey Carano, live at Barracks 19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
• A new exhibition by Jennifer George at the Women’s Museum, Barracks 16
• Paint your own ceramic or make a candle at Hotspot, Barracks 14
Friday Night Liberty is the biggest gallery night in San Diego, with a chance to meet working artists, see free performances and stroll the beautiful campus of the historic former Naval Training Center.
