Friday Night Liberty art walk this Friday

Experience all the Arts District has to offer is by attending a free Friday Night Liberty art walk. Taking place on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday Night Liberty is San Diego’s biggest free monthly art event. Meet working artists, enjoy dance, theatre and music performances, visit museums and galleries and explore the growing Arts District. Visitors can start their stroll at the Information Desk in the Dick Laub NTC Command Center at 2640 Historic Decatur Road and pick up a monthly program and Arts District map. The San Diego Museum Council hosts Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s Make a DNA Necklace program. A scientist will help guide you in extracting DNA from wheat germ, which you’ll put into a small plastic container … then you can attach it to a necklace! All supplies are provided for you, and you can even take home your genetic jewelry. Barracks 15, Second floor. Liberty Public Market exhibits original works from the Arts District community through August 5. Enjoy this curated collection while strolling the marketplace to ponder a variety of menus from 27 extraordinary food vendors. Artists include Lovejoy (Barracks 19), Lauren LeVieux (Barracks 15), Dave Ness (Barracks 19), Ellen Shorey (Barracks 17), Colleen Veltz (Barracks 15), Michelle Moore (Barracks 19), Paul Minotto (Barracks 19), Wattana Khommarath (Barracks 19), students of Monart (Building 176). Building 1. San Diego Watercolor Society will present In All Its Glory, a watermedia exhibition juried by award-winning artist Robin St. Louis. SDWS will also be exhibiting the 2016 “Waste No Water” Kids Poster Show. This year 19 winners’ posters will be on display with an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m.. 5 to 8 p.m. in Building 202. Market Street Group the oldest working cooperative studio in San Diego, is celebrating the 4th of July with 20 artist’s paintings in oil and acrylic featuring the colors Red, White or Blue. 5 to 8 p.m. in Barracks 14, Second floor. San Diego Comic Art Gallery host celebrations for its newest exhibit, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring art from the six issues mini-series published by DC Comics and IDW Publishing. Artist Freddie Williams II and TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will be on hand to sign and sketch for fans. Please limit outside items to five. 6 to 9 p.m. in Barracks 3, ground floor. California Hardwoods and Dave Ness Photography features Spirit of the Wave. These images look more like paintings capturing the spirit, light, movement and energy of the waves. Point Loma’s Bill Riley is also showing his bronze sculptures depicting native island surfers paddling out, and Michael Panetta’s glass sculpture waves bring three dimensional waves into your home. Barracks 19, Ground floor. Casa Valencia Galería features El Muelle by renowned Artist Estela Hussongs. Her impressionistic paintings have colorful, soft, and calm movements. Barracks 16, Ground floor. MK Envision Galleries will have a pop-up gallery of small photographic prints for sale. Barracks 17, Ground floor. Comickaze Comics, Books and More is giving away free comics to the first hundred visitors and hosting a live artist demonstration. Barracks 15, Ground floor. FX Dojo hosts a Workshop/Summer Camp preview on how to design a Ninja in 3D: for Animation or Video Game Character! Barracks 19, Second floor. M Fischbeck Studio Gallery celebrates seven years in Arts District Liberty Station and history in the new community art collaboration Hamiltons. Florals by Petals on the Point. Barracks 19, Second Floor. Billie Hamilton Fine Arts features guest artist Ibrahim Al Nashashibi, titled The City of Joy and a collection of Hamilton’s own colorful large-scale pastel paintings. Barracks 19, Second floor. Debby Winklea Silk Art features their latest designs. Stop by and learn about the batik process. 5 to 8 p.m. in Barracks 14, Second floor.
EAS Art Studio is a working art and offers a Studio Discount on all paintings for Military personnel for Month of July. Barracks 17, Ground floor.?
June Rubin Studio/Gallery features Hot Hot Hot a colorful exhibit of watercolors celebrating summer and hosts a reception to meet the artist. Barracks 19, Second Floor.
?Lovejoy Creations highlights artwork and the Paint your Petpainting classes. Lovejoy creations will also be offering gift cards for a cash discount. Stop by to grab some cucumber mint lemonade & your gift card. Barracks 19, Second Floor.??Lauren LeVieux Artist Studio presents Generations: the impact of history in visual format. Barracks 15, Second Floor.??Point Loma Tea features organic Summer Teas and Anne Jackson Mermaid Art. Celebrate summer with fabulous MIST Iced Tea Makers at 20 percent off. Barracks 14, Ground floor.??Portraits4All features original portraits by American Impressionist artist, Nancy Tokos. American patriot’s portraits featured entire month of July. Artist reception from 5 to 9 p.m. in Barracks 14, Ground floor.??Royal Entertainers features costumes on display. Their professionally trained performers bring beloved storybook and classic characters to life in the most magical and memorable way. Stop by and take a peek or reserve one of their characters for your event. Open 5 to 7 p.m. in Barracks 16, Second floor.??The Pure Flamenco Store is San Diego’s only flamenco dance store. Find everything you need for your flamenco class or performance: flamenco shoes imported from Spain, practice skirts, mantones (shawls), castanets, fans, earrings, peinetas and more. If you are interested in learning how to dance flamenco, Pure Flamenco offers classes nearby at Dorothea Laub Dance Place. Open 5 to 8 p.m. in Barracks 16.
