Frank to speak at next Republican Women meeting

By Pat Boerner | Navajo Canyon Republican Women Federated

Navajo Republican women have been working feverishly to help Carl DeMaio as he leads the effort to get the gas tax repealed. It will be on the November ballot and it is vital we have informed voters and a high voter turnout. The gas tax is just one of many ballot measures that should spur us all on to volunteer and help our party. There is no summer vacation for Republicans who want to see the conservative agenda thrive. Over 150 volunteers met at the Elk’s Club in San Carlos in July and August and dedicated more than 700 man hours preparing a mailer with facts on the gas tax and urging voters to vote “yes.”

We are also busy planning our annual fashion show at the Bali Hai on Harbor Island. The event is Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. It is always a well-attended and fun event. Delicious lunch, fashions to be seen and prizes to be won — what could be better!

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, Stephen Frank, a longtime political activist and consultant, will be the speaker at the Navajo Canyon Republican Women Federated (NCRWF) luncheon meeting at the Brigantine in La Mesa. Founder of Political News and Views in the early 1990s, Frank’s robust website and newsletter presents important political content on California’s political news and thinking, and is now emailed to over 30,000 subscribers and over 20,000 Facebook followers.

Frank has a long and accomplished resume. He started in 1960 working for the Richard Nixon for presidential campaign, moved on to Goldwater in 1964, and Reagan’s gubernatorial campaign in 1966. He then served two years in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam, and after his return home he created the POW/MIS bracelet and worked full time for seven years working on behalf of families to gain release of POWs. Frank now serves as senior executive editor of the Editorial Board of California Political Review. His insight and political savvy will be informative for us all.

Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 11 a.m. Lunch is served at noon, followed by our program. Cost of the lunch is $25 and reservations are absolutely required. RSVP at [email protected] (use “luncheon” in subject line) or call 619 990-2791. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an educational session and enjoy the company of our members and guests.

If you have ever considered getting politically involved, this is the time to jump in and learn what you can do to help get Republican candidates elected. It is the volunteers and grass-roots effort than can make a real difference in elections.
