The San Diego Food Bank feeds an average of 400,000 per month through its network of 500 nonprofit partners, 200 direct food distributions, and 35 Super Pantries which are high-volume distribution hubs open throughout the week. Of San Diego County’s 3.3 million residents*, nearly 1.1 million people face nutrition insecurity.** Of this number, 284,500 are children.** Nutrition insecurity means that little or no safe and nutritious food is available at home. Currently, 40% of children in San Diego County face nutrition insecurity in San Diego County.** (*U.S. Census Bureau. 2020) (**San Diego Hunger Coalition. 2021).
