Five things to do this Memorial Day weekend

1. High tide dinner at The Marine Room Dine on French-inspired cuisine coupled with an award-winning wine list and witness dramatic surf crashing against The Marine Room’s floor-to-ceiling windows at one of the restaurant’s Summer High Tide dinners on May 28. At 9:56 p.m., the tender black angus filet mignon or the pistachio crusted rack of lamb will pair perfectly with waves expected to reach as high as 6.6 feet. The Marine Room, 2000 Spindrift Drive, (858) 459-7222. 2. Play a round at Torrey Pines Golf Course Golf-lovers travel from around the world to visit La Jolla’s only course, home of the renowned 2008 U.S. Open. Schedule a round or skip the tee time and walk surrounding trails overlooking rugged bluffs and the vast Pacific. San Diego residents may call (619) 570-1234 to make reservations. Torrey Pines Golf Course, 11480 North Torrey Pines Road. 3. Stand-up paddleboard at La Jolla Shores Stand-up paddle boarding (otherwise known as SUP) has been called the “yoga of the sea.” Relax and invigorate simultaneously with a lesson from expert instructors at Surf Diva, 2160 Avenida de la Playa, (858) 454-8273. Prices range from $75-$95 for one hour and $130-150 for two hours, depending on the number of students. A free one-hour rental is included with lessons. 4. Sail the skies at Torrey Pines Gliderport Soak up La Jolla’s stunning coastline from a whole new perspective with a paragliding or hanggliding lesson at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. For those who prefer to stay on the sidelines, grab lunch overlooking the Pacific at the Cliff Hanger Café and marvel at the vibrant sails soaring gracefully above. Call (858) 452-9858 or visit flytorrey.com. 5. Kayak or walking tour of Sunny Jim Cave Browse unique trinkets, original jewelry and extraordinary artwork in the La Jolla Cave and Curios Shop and Lulumar boutique, 1325 Coast Blvd., before touring the only known land access sea cave on the California coastline. Admission to Sunny Jim Cave is $4 for adults and $3 for children under age 17. Call (858) 459-0746, visit cavestore.com for more information.
